Raukawa District Maori Council

On Sunday November 26th. The Raukawa District Maori Council held it's hui at Ngati Wehi Wehi.

Ngati Wehi Wehi were very pleased to host this event. Dolly, Susie Girl, Lois, Paddy, and Rebecca, provided a lovely morning and afternoon tea as well as a very healthy lunch (deserts included).

Ngati Wehi Wehi were represented by Wheturangi Walsh-Tapiata and Richard Orzecki taking the photo

Komiti Photo outside the whare tupuna

The komiti came from all over the rohe to attend the hui. It was good that we had a nice day to show off the marae. This was some of the 24 komiti members. As you can see the youngest member present was Arapera Walsh-Tapiata

Long Lost Trophies

The photo's shows some of the trophies returned to the council by Uncle Blondie Blackmore from Parewahawaha marae. These have not been used in recent years and the council is now reviewing how it can use these trophies in the future.

Long Lost Trophies

The carving on some of these trophies is quite intricate. We hope to have some history about each documented.
